I've always been the girl who said I'd never cut my hair. That changed after I entered college. I was unable to travel back home (2 1/2 hours away) to get my hair done by my beautician of 6 years and didn't trust just anyone with my hair. Therefore, I relied solely on my own "skills" to keep my hair healthy. My first year in college, I learned to put braids in my hair so I kept it braided up the whole year. My second year, my ends started thinning so I cut my hair into a bob. That helped a little but the stress from working and going to school became evident in my hair. It began to break off and I needed another change, therefore I got bangs. That didn't help much but it was something new so it made me happy for awhile. My third year, I stopped getting perms. I began to put braids in again, quick weaves and wearing wigs. Since I liked to change my hair up a lot, this satisfied me for a whole year. My fourth year, I took a year off from school and focused on work. I applied to hair school in the mean time but decided that the schedule wouldn't work well with my job schedule and I definitely needed to work more than I needed to go to a different school.
I finally made up my mind to go ahead and cut my hair one night in my bathroom. I was about to go out with my friends and couldn't do anything with my hair so I just cut it all off. EVERYONE FREAKED OUT!!!! I came out of the bathroom like nothing happened at all and asked everyone if they were ready to go. The style I cut it in was cute, I still had my bangs but the back was non-existant. (lol) I let it grow out a few more months and then finally just cut all of the permed parts out. I WAS FINALLY NATURAL!!!! COMPLETELY NATURAL!!!! For the first time in my life, I felt revived. I felt beautiful and I felt as if I found myself. Many people hated it, some kind of liked it, but I LOVED IT and that's all that mattered. What you do with your hair should be your own personal decision! Don't let anyone make or break you!
