This is very crafty! Although, it's old fashioned as you say, I've never heard of it before. The results are awesome and your hair looks great! I think your photos were very detailed. I only had a problem with the arrangement of them into the article. Other than that, this was a great tutorial.

Beautiful Holiday Curls For Locs.

For this challenge I've opted for an old fashioned approach; cloth rollers. An elder woman gave me the idea when she talked about how back during the Great Depression when money was scarce women used all kinds of different house hold objects for their beauty needs. I used just a few strips of fabric from an old t-shirt. I find this option to be very cost effective, and enviromentally responsible. I used something old which would have otherwise been thrown away, as well as machine washable material which is very important because different oils and setting lotions can build up on ordinary rods and rollers. Don't get discouraged, this process may seem a little difficult but it is very simple and can be completed with just a few materials and steps.
Step 1.
Find any old t-shirt or rags preferably something soft like cotton that will stay put when tied. Depending on your material and length of hair you may need any where from sixteen to thrity strips. I started by cutting a t-shirt up the front vertically then down so that I have four long strips of fabric. Next I proceeded to cut each strip horizontally into ten strips each. I then had about fourty 2in x 6in strips.

Step 2. For locs I would recomend moistening the hair either with a spray bottle of water and setting lotion or hair damp right after washing. Oil the scalp and work the oil down to the ends. Re-twist the loc with locking gel and a clip. I applied the mystery lotion to the roots of my locs as well as a small amount throughout for a softer look.
Step
Step 3. Four to six locs are then all twisted together clockwise into one. At the very ends, wrap the locs
around the middle of the strip until secure and none are peaking free. Then continue holding the middle area with the locs wrapped around and roll the hair clockwise around the strip until it is tightly wound. Simply tie together the free ends of the stips in a double knot to finnish. The knot will hold the hair in place.
Step 4. Sit under the dryer until the hair is dry or allow to air dry. The soft cotton knots make it easy to relax and sleep while your hair dries. Finally untie the knots and unwind the strips. This style can be worn for a more fun flirty look or the curls can be fluffed and separted for a more natural elegant look.

Great tutorial!!! I love how you used strips to curl your hair it reminded me when I used to use paper bag strips to curl my hair. Great pictures and great job! I think that your challenge photos could have done a better job in highlighting your hair and they lacked a unifying concept. You are a very pretty young lady and I could see you soaring in this competition if you take the time to really work on your poses and picture concepts. Good luck!
