Hey! Thanks for checking my profile. I was born in Utrecht, the Netherlands and raised in Suriname as the youngest of three children.

Always fascinated by hair, I went to a barber at the age of eight to have my braids cut into an Afro. It was American culture that showed me the beauty of natural hair through series like Different Strokes and Good Times and made me want to have an afro. It was also the Maroons in Suriname who always kept me staring in awe at their intricately braided cornrows.

Getting a Masters Degree in Computer Science in Amsterdam, the Netherlands and working for an American Internet Startup company couldn't stop my fascination for African hair. Better yet, it provided me with a foundation for social entrepreneurship.
