Adrian Alicea Couture

Famous for his haute couture designs and magnificent photography, Going-Natural.com is elated to welcome Adrian Alicea on board. Not only will this great designer from Puertorican origin be one of the judges of America's Next Natural Model 2012, he will also personally shoot the winner in one of his avantgarde gawns.

Adrian who is extremely busy with his new collection in preparation of New York Fashion Week says he will take time out of his busy schedule for this pageant because the cause is close to his heart. He persuaded a few Black model models to shoot natural and even big chopped one right on the spot during a photo shoot.

Please be careful of the chemicals that you put on your head. Your head has pores and they absorb everything you put on it.

L’Oreal says it will fully co-operate with an investigation that is being launched into a British woman who fell into a coma after using one of its hair dye products.

Hello Wonderful People,

As I am typing this, I realize that my hair has not been done for weeks. And I mean, it's not in a style or anything. I am walking around with a few unkempt braids in all directions much like Pippi Longstocking's hair. I only dear to uncover my head at home. Outside, I religiously wear one of my hats. I should feel ashamed as someone promoting natural hair, shouldn't I? Well, maybe I should but no, I am not ashamed at all. As a matter of fact I feel great!

Not only has it been extremely busy with events like the Hair Show in Holland and the premiere of In our Heads about Hair, for months I have been working on this website. Hopefully you notice that the front end has improved. Not only has browsing become easier, I am so happy that the member's contributions are brought to the front and the system is faster! So, I feel good even though it really laterally took every inch of my being to accomplish.

No, I didn't even have time to do my hair. Usually in a period like this when it's too busy, I braid my hair with extensions but I am so done with extensions. Once they are in, they are great but getting them is a such a drag, and of course taking them out is worse. So I choose to go unkempt, as far as there was a choice because I felt like I didn't even have time to breathe.

Going Natural Book Cover Ingram, the largest book wholesale distributor in the world, just ordered 1.5 cases of Going Natural, How to Fall in Love with Nappy Hair. That, said Luther Warner of Lushena Books, is a record.

I am ELATED!

That means my book will be available in many more stores this holiday season. I so hope everyone goes and buys a copy for a friend, neighbor, sister or cousin who contemplates going natural.

Of course you can also get it right here, on Amazon for your the kindle or even at Barnes and Noble for your Nook.

Thank you people!

The producers: Paulette Tabb, Maitefa Angaza, Hemamset Angaza, Anu Prestonia

They didn't have the finances that Chris Rock had when he produced "Good Hair", or all the advantages that come with being a celebrity, and it's very likely that some will say that the movie is pro nappy but I think "In our heads about hair" is a feel good movie that shows a rare perspective on Black hair.

Going Natural Hair Care Products
The shop is closed but they will be back

The past week was overwhelmingly busy working on the last steps for the Natural Hair Show in Holland. I felt blessed that my workshops are fully booked so I immediately began to lay the groundwork. Since every attendee gets a Going Natural Hair Care package this also included two full days of packaging and shipping products. Although overwhelming, it is of course very exiting and I look forward doing the Natural Hair Care workshops.

Going Natural How to Fall in Love with Nappy Hair

Although I consider myself a pretty grounded person, I have to admit that my head was in the clouds for a whole weekend when my distributor called me to congratulate me on my book Going Natural, How to Fall in Love with Nappy Hair. I am talking about Lushena Books, leading distributor of African-American publications, distributing to Barnes & Noble, Baker & Taylor, Amazon, and about 500 independent bookstores.

When Luther, the owner called he said, "Today I just called to congratulate you. Your book is doing extremely well. It's outdoing all other books in its category. Congratulations on an outstanding job! This was music to my ears but I also needed to congratulate and thank him.

About a year ago, I took his advice to add more hairstyles in the book and adjust the cover. Initially I didn't want to be on the cover by myself but after his talk, I took the risk and I am very happy that it worked out well.

So, I like to thank all my readers and supporters who helped make Going Natural, the nr. 1 book on black hair care in America. Let's hope that this is a start to change the world for the better and show the world the beauty of natural hair that they miss out on. From my heart I like to say it in Surinamese "Gran Tangi!" which means "A Big Thank You""

Last year I decided to become a volunteer of the International African Festival. It's my way of giving back to the event that has inspired me. This year was their 40th year celebration and I was thankful to be volunteering. I had a great time. Not only did I meet wonderful friends, I had great food, saw some awesome performances, got some exclusive items and I took some amazing photos. Take a look! I am sure you will enjoy the Hair Show photos this week. Stay tuned. There are more coming up next week.
