The Harlem Hook Fair was the first fair I ever did. I was by myself as I didn't know what to expect. It turned out to be a great beautiful day. The sun was shining and there was a nice breeze. Soon after my table was setup people started coming. Asking questions and sharing their hair stories. It was awesome! When I started to notice incredible styles passing by I had a hard time concentrating and felt conflicted. Did I want to sell books or take pictures? I was there to sell books and wanted to do that but I just couldn't let such amazing styles pass by. So I didn't. Somehow I just did both. Now when I look at the pictures I am not sorry at all. The bright sunlight brought out the styles all too well. This picture is a perfect example. I don't know the beauty's name so I named the photo the Afro forelock. Her hair shines so wonderfully in the bright sun and her Mona Lisa smile just completes the unfathomable sexiness. Booth owners were very helpful to one another. My friendly neighbor Ed, of GoodingThoughts Inc. didn't mind to keep an eye for me on my stuff and when I had to carry the chairs and table myself and this guy from WHBR quickly offered to help me. So the atmosphere was excellent. Even the weather was great. The sun was out but there was a continuous breeze to keep the temperature pleasant.
